Directory of Services
This is a comprehensive list of all the childcare services in the County of Cavan which include creches, pre-schools, afterschools, childminders. We have also included some points on Choosing Quality Childcare and given definition on terms eg. Pre-school, Community and Private Childcare Services. There is also a list of parent and toddler groups.
Summer Camp Booklet
The main aim of this booklet is to help ease the burden on parents to source childcare arrangements for the summer months . Week by week the booklet lists events that are taking place over the summer months and the handy ‘Day Trippin’ guide at the back might provide you with some ideas for some great days out .

Free Pre-School Year in Early Childhood Care & Education. This has a list of all services in the county that are participating in the scheme. It has some guidelines and informatin for parents about what to expect fro pre-school services and also how to clim the free year.

Free pre-school year in early childhood care and education (ECCE) This leaflet is available in English and Irish and is a guide for parents on the scheme which is designed to give children access to a Free Pre-School Year of appropriate programme based activities in the year before they start primary school.
NCIP Childminding Development Grant: The purpose of the CMDG’s is to offer an incentive in the form of a small capital grant to Childminders to enhance and support their awareness of quality childcare. Childminders already providing a service or anyone planning to set up a Childminding service may apply for the CMDG

Support and Development Workers; Providing support to existing and potential childcare services in Cavan:
Family Outreach Service is an early intervention service offering one to one parenting support to families and parenting programmes. This service can be obtained by obtaining a referral form General Practitioner or Public Health Nurse, further information on this service from Family Outreach Service Information Guide.
Family Outreach Service Outreach Parental Classes: Parenting Programmes provided by Family Outreach service include: “Parenting Plus Programme” Aimed at Parents of children 0-6yrs “Swings and Slides” Aimed at parents of children aged 0-10yrs “ Cook It Programme” The aim of this course is to encourage parents of young families cook healthy meals on a budget
Safe Sleep
This leaflet gives a best practice guide for Childcare providers on safe sleeping for children in their services, it is also useful for parents.
